Storage Quotas, Limits & Janitor Sweeper
Manage storage capacity across your organization. Set hard storage caps on specific client websites and let the automated Janitor Sweeper purge abandoned staging uploads automatically.
“Abandoned presigned uploads and orphaned staging files are automatically cleaned up to save your storage capacity.”
Organization Storage Quotas
Each organization receives a generous allocation of native edge storage based on its subscription tier:
| Parameter | Type | Requirement | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| INDIVIDUAL Tier | 1 GB Included | Optional | Default tier for personal portfolios, hobby sites, and developer testing. |
| BUSINESS Tier | 5 GB Included | Optional | For small-to-medium businesses, e-commerce storefronts, and active blogs. |
| ORGANIZATION Tier | 10 GB Included | Optional | For mid-size institutions, schools, and growing non-profit foundations. |
| AGENCY Tier | 50 GB Included | Optional | Pooled storage for digital agencies managing dozens of client projects. |
| ENTERPRISE Tier | Unlimited Capacity | Optional | Custom multi-terabyte quotas with dedicated edge bandwidth pools. |
Project-Level Storage Caps
Agencies and organizations can set hard storage caps on individual project nodes (e.g. Limit Project Alpha to 500 MB) in Project Settings → Storage Limits:
Hard Storage Limits
Prevent a single client project from exhausting your organization's entire pooled storage balance.
Upload Protection
Uploads that would exceed the project cap are rejected before file transfer begins with a clear limit warning.
Hourly Orphaned Staging Sweeper
If a user requests a presigned upload URL but closes their browser tab before the upload completes, an orphaned record remains in the staging area. The Janitor Sweeper cleans these up automatically:
- Cron Frequency: Runs at the top of every hour (
@hourly). - Threshold: Identifies any upload records older than 60 minutes still marked as
pending. - Automatic Purge: Deletes the staging files and removes the temporary database records to free up quota.
Live Storage Breakdown
In Organization Settings → Storage & BYOS, you can inspect a live breakdown showing exactly how much storage is used by media assets vs. Next.js ISR cache bundles across every project.
